Updates from the Kent AHDB Monitor Farm
Updates from the Kent AHDB Monitor Farm – June 2017
June 22nd saw farmers and agronomists meet at the AHDB Monitor Farm open day, at Sittingbourne, Kent.
Soybeans are being grown for the first time and all aspects of agronomy were discussed – cost of inputs, drilling date, challenges of growing, place in rotation and preceding cover crop.
The group also reviewed a Syngenta Crusoe fungicide trial being held on the farm. Disease was very variable with Brown rust really prevalent, but septoria largely absent. With high temperatures experienced that week, the trial highlighted considerable differences in brown rust control from various programmes, no remaining green leaf area in untreated plots and even some of the treated.
